Nari

Updated: Jul 9

Nari, located in the heart of San Francisco, is a modern Thai restaurant that masterfully blends traditional flavors with contemporary techniques. The name "Nari," which translates to "women" in Thai, is a tribute to the powerful women in Chef Pim Techamuanvivit's life, and this influence is reflected in the restaurant's bold, vibrant dishes.

Joe Says:

Nothing short of phenomenal. Even the toughest critics will approve.
This one hits all the marks.
From start to finish Nari did not disappoint. Exceptional cocktails paired with a unique tasting menu and incredible service, Nari leaves a lasting impression and tops the charts for 3MB.

Ryan Says:

Conveniently located inside the historic Kabuki hotel rests a place that will surprise you from start to finish. Imagined a very typical elevated Thai experience. However, what I received was exquisite and well thought out. Each dish specifically designed to take you on a flavor boat down the Chao Phraya River. You can't but notice the expert level service received, it was almost like they were in my head with recommendations and their knowledge of the cuisine. The cocktail selection was filled with delightful concoctions with one being a lovely play on a mango lassi. If you like flavor mixed with polished levels of detail you need to give #Nari a try.

Steve Says:

Ambiance and Setting

The restaurant boasts a sleek, contemporary design with a nod to Thai aesthetics. Upon entering, you are greeted by an inviting space adorned with warm wooden accents, lush greenery, and intricate Thai artwork. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between upscale and relaxed, making it suitable for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings.

The Menu

Nari's menu is a celebration of Thai cuisine, focusing on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The dishes are designed for sharing, encouraging a communal dining experience.

Appetizers

The meal might start with the delightful "Kha Nom Jeeb," a Thai-style dumpling filled with shrimp and pork, served with a tangy dipping sauce. The "Miang Kham" is another standout, offering a burst of flavors with its betel leaves topped with coconut, peanuts, lime, and shallots.

Mains

For the mains, the "Khao Soi" is a must-try. This Northern Thai curry dish features tender chicken, egg noodles, and crispy noodles, all bathed in a rich, aromatic broth. The "Gaeng Rawaeng," a yellow curry with succulent beef short ribs, exemplifies the depth and complexity of Thai curries at Nari.

Sides and Salads

Complementing the mains, the "Som Tum" (green papaya salad) offers a refreshing contrast with its spicy, sweet, and tangy notes. The "Pad Pak" (stir-fried seasonal vegetables) showcases the restaurant's commitment to fresh, high-quality produce.

Desserts

To end the meal, the "Kanom Tungtaek" is a delightful choice, featuring a crispy coconut pancake with pandan and coconut ice cream. For a more adventurous palate, the "Cha Nom Yen" provides a modern twist on the classic Thai iced tea, served as a granita with condensed milk.

Beverage Program

Nari's beverage program is equally impressive, featuring an array of Thai-inspired cocktails, carefully selected wines, and craft beers. The "Tom Yum Martini," a concoction of vodka, lemongrass, and kaffir lime, is a refreshing and innovative take on a classic cocktail.

Service

The service at Nari is attentive and knowledgeable, with staff eager to guide you through the menu and provide recommendations. Their passion for Thai cuisine and commitment to hospitality enhance the overall dining experience.

Overall Experience

Nari successfully marries traditional Thai flavors with modern culinary techniques, creating a dining experience that is both familiar and excitingly new. Chef Pim Techamuanvivit's dedication to honoring her heritage while pushing culinary boundaries makes Nari a standout in San Francisco's vibrant food scene. Whether you are a long-time lover of Thai food or a newcomer to its delights, Nari promises an unforgettable culinary journey.
